Solar and Battery FAQs
Take Control of Your Energy Future
Frequently Asked Questions
How much can I save with solar?
Savings vary depending on your electricity usage, the size of your system, your energy retailer, and whether you install a battery. Many households can significantly reduce their electricity bills by using the solar energy they generate during the day and storing excess energy for use at night.
Is a battery worth it?
A battery allows you to store excess solar energy generated during the day and use it when the sun isn’t shining. This can reduce your reliance on the electricity grid, increase your energy independence, and help protect you from rising electricity prices.
How long do solar panels last?
Most premium solar panels are designed to last 25–30 years or more. They continue producing electricity over time, although their output gradually decreases as they age. Modern panels are built to withstand Australia’s harsh weather conditions.
How long does a battery last?
Most quality home batteries have a design life of 10–15 years, depending on the manufacturer, usage, and operating conditions. Many also include long-term performance warranties for added peace of mind.
Does solar work on cloudy days?
Yes. Solar panels generate electricity whenever daylight is available. While production is lower on cloudy or rainy days, your system will continue generating power.
What happens at night?
At night, your home will first use any energy stored in your battery. Once the battery is depleted, your home will automatically draw electricity from the grid. If you don’t have a battery, your home will simply use grid electricity after sunset.
Will my solar system work during a blackout?
Standard grid-connected solar systems automatically switch off during a power outage for safety reasons. However, some battery systems include backup functionality, allowing selected circuits or even your entire home to remain powered during a blackout.
How long does installation take?
Most residential solar and battery installations are completed within one day, although larger or more complex systems may require additional time.
Do I need to maintain my solar panels?
Solar systems require very little maintenance. Rain often helps keep panels clean, but occasional cleaning and periodic inspections can help ensure your system continues operating at peak performance.
Can I add a battery later?
Yes. Many homeowners install solar first and add a compatible battery at a later stage. We can recommend a system that allows for future battery expansion.
What rebates and incentives are available?
Eligible homeowners may be able to access Federal Government rebates, battery incentives, and State-based finance programs, including the NSW Government’s 0% Interest Loan. Our team will explain what incentives are available and apply all eligible rebates to your quote. You can also find more information here
How do I monitor my system?
Your inverter includes a monitoring app that lets you track your solar production, battery performance, household consumption, and electricity exports in real time from your smartphone or tablet.
